Ming Dynasty (1595) The Tang clan of Lung Yeuk Tau established “Tai Po Hui” (Tai Po Market) north of the Lam Tsuen River.

Late Qing Dynasty (1892) The Man clan alliance founded “Tai Wo Shi” (Tai Wo Market) on the south bank of the Lam Tsuen River.

1896 Kwong Fuk Bridge was completed.

1913 The colonial government established the “Tai Po Market Station”.

📍 Tai Po Old Market

Established during the Ming Dynasty, founded by the Tang clan of Lung Yeuk Tau.

Located north of the Lam Tsuen River, close to Ting Kok Road and the Tin Hau Temple.

Originally named “Tai Po Hui”, it was a taxed land belonging to the Tangs, one of the Five Great Clans of the New Territories.

During the Qing Dynasty, revenues from the market town were used to support ancestral halls.

Founded in the late Qing Dynasty by the Man clan of Tai Hang in alliance with seven nearby villages.

Located south of the Lam Tsuen River, around present-day Fu Shin Street.

The completion of Kwong Fuk Bridge in 1892 greatly improved transport and boosted development.

The Kowloon-Canton Railway opened to traffic in 1911, establishing the old Tai Po Market Railway Station.
