📍 【Lantau Trail – Section 1 (鳳凰徑第1段)】 is the opening stretch of the entire Lantau Trail system. It kicks off right at the Mui Wo Ferry Pier and wraps up at Nam Shan. Spanning roughly 2.5 kilometers, this section runs entirely along paved roads. Because the ground is highly level with very gentle slopes, it is incredibly accessible and perfectly suited for hikers of all fitness levels. As you make your way along, you will walk along nicely shaded pedestrian pathways. About halfway through, right next to a local bus stop, the view opens up beautifully, giving you a wonderful bird’s-eye look down over Luk Tei Tong Village. While the scenery on this initial stretch is relatively straightforward without any major tourist checkpoints or scenic detours, it still offers a great, peaceful taste of Mui Wo’s natural charm. Your destination, Nam Shan, is well-equipped as a major rest area, featuring pavilions, plenty of benches, and public toilets for visitors. It also houses the iconic Lantau Trail stone archway, which marks the official gateway to Section 2, letting hikers easily decide whether to keep pushing forward or head back down to Mui Wo.
