Lantau Peak . Wisdom Path . Ngong Ping Village
鳳凰山 . 心經簡林 . 昂坪市集
This hiking route kicks off from Pak Kung Au, situated at about 340m above sea level. You’ll follow Lantau Trail – Section 3, heading uphill all the way to the summit of Lantau Peak at an elevation of 934m. The path consists mostly of stone steps, but the views are absolutely stunning—you can catch the majestic “”sea of clouds,”” and it’s a hotspot for silvergrass during the autumn and winter months. As the second-highest peak in Hong Kong, Lantau Peak offers wide-open vistas where you can spot Sunset Peak and Mui Wo, as well as look down upon Shek Pik Reservoir and the Big Buddha. After reaching the summit, continue down the trail via Tsam Chai Au, which serves as the junction for the Kau Nga Ling routes. This section is known as the 「Stairway to Heaven」 due to its steepness, so watch your step. Head towards Ngong Ping; once you reach the foot of the hill, you’ll arrive at the Wisdom Path, a Zen-like spot featuring a series of wooden pillars inscribed with the 《Heart Sutra》. Upon leaving the Wisdom Path, take a detour onto the Nei Lak Shan • Country Trail, eventually finishing at Ngong Ping Village.
