In April 2002, the North District Office rebuilt the old pavilion here. Completed in October of the same year, the new structure was named “Tung Sam Pavilion” (同心亭), symbolizing that the villagers from the seven settlements of the “Hing Chun Alliance” in the Northeast New Territories are of one heart, one mind, and stand united. Right next to the main plaza of Lai Chi Wo Village, you can find a building inscribed with the names “Siu Ying School” and “Hing Chun Alliance.” This was once Siu Ying School, where children from the seven alliance villages studied. Since Lai Chi Wo serves as the central hub of the alliance, the school building was also utilized as the administrative center for alliance affairs.
