This concrete catchwater intercepts the water from streams within the Pat Sin Leng catchment area. The steps and surrounding design are engineered to slow down the water flow and form small pools, which trap debris in the water to prevent it from being washed into the bottom of the reservoir, avoiding siltation that would elevate the reservoir bed and reduce its storage capacity.
