Hung Shek Mun is a strait located in the North District of the New Territories, Hong Kong. It is situated off Kin Mun Tsui on the northeast side of the Plover Cove Reservoir, facing the southwest coast of Wong Wan Chau, with the two shores separated by only a few dozen meters. Hung Shek Mun serves as the southern “gate” leading into the picturesque Double Haven; the other “gates” are somewhat wider—Chik Mun Tau to the east, Wang Mun Hoi to the north, and Ching Chau Lek to the west. The area is named Hung Shek Mun due to the abundance of vibrant red rocks found along its shores.
