Sham Chung is located north of the Sai Kung Peninsula in the New Territories, Hong Kong, at the mouth of Kei Ling Ha Hoi. Surrounded by mountains on three sides (Shek Nga Tau, Shek Uk Shan, and Wa Mei Shan), Sham Chung Village is a collective name for five local villages: Shing Kau Tong, Pau Nei Tsai, Shek Tau Keng, Toi Min, and Wan Tsai. It is a Hakka village settled during the Qing Dynasty by the Li clan, originally from Xikeng Village in Changle, Guangdong, who relocated from Wu Kau Tang in Sha Tau Kok to make a living through farming. Boasting a vast expanse of grassland, Sham Chung has attracted many campers in recent years.
