Tiger Roar Rock River | 360° Panorama

Roaring Tiger Rock River is nestled midway up Kau Nga Ling (Dog’s Teeth Range) on Lantau Island, at the upper reaches of Chung Kau Nga Hang. It sits snugly between Middle Kau Nga Ling and East Kau Nga Ling. The stone river was formed by weathering and frost wedging, which caused rocks to fracture into boulders and debris. Under the force of gravity, these fragments gathered into the gully beneath the slope and gradually shifted downwards, creating a valley filled entirely with rocks—hence the name “stone river”. Flanked by two towering cliff faces at its front end, the gully channels fierce gales that produce a roaring wind. This howling wind, occasionally blending with the sound of loose falling rocks, echoes through the valley like a “tiger’s roaring”.
