Conglomerate, Port Island – Wong Chuk Kok

Port Island is a red island formed of red conglomerate, sandstone, and siltstone. The crimson red colour of the rocks comes from the abundant iron oxide elements within them. Wong Chuk Kok Tsui features the oldest rock strata in Hong Kong, formed from sediments that accumulated in a river delta 400 million years ago.
