Conglomerate, Sharp Island – Volcanic Headland

At the junction where the beach at the end of the Sharp Island pier meets the tombolo, there lies a cluster of giant boulders. These rocks comprise various types of volcanic rocks, mainly volcanic ash, lapilli, and lava. Some of these rocks exhibit unique cracked patterns resembling the local Hong Kong delicacy, the “Pineapple Bun,” and are thus named “Pineapple Bun Rocks.”
