Walking along the High Island Geo Trail, you can see magnificent rock walls on the side, as well as these uniquely shaped rock columns that were twisted by natural forces. During the early stages of their formation, while the hexagonal rock columns were still cooling slowly inside the caldera, they were as soft as plasticine. It is believed that due to tectonic movements, earthquakes, or regional subsidence, they were compressed and deformed into the S-shaped rock columns we see today.
