Wong Nai Chung Reservoir is a reservoir nestled within Wong Nai Chung Gap in the Southern District of Hong Kong Island. It is the third reservoir constructed in Hong Kong and the very first to be redeveloped into a boating park. It holds rich historical and cultural value and has been listed as a declared monument. The architectural style of Wong Nai Chung Reservoir features distinct colonial characteristics: the dam is built with ashlar granite blocks laid in regular courses with a walkway spanning across its crest, while the valve house is constructed of roughly dressed stone blocks framed with polished ashlar masonry around its doors and windows. The valve house roof originally featured a traditional hip roof design, which was replaced in 1979 with a flat concrete roof. The overflow weir dam used to discharge excess water consists of curved, stepped stone blocks that connect to an angled catchwater channel before merging with the natural stream course downstream of the main dam.
