The overall layout of 《Lai Chi Wo》 follows the principles of “gathering wind and storing Qi.” It is cradled by surrounding mountains like Fu Mei Tok, Tiger Stone Top, and Tiu Tang Lung at the rear, with a dense native forest spreading across a crescent-shaped band. Streams on both the east and west sides converge beside the settlement to form the Lai Chi Wo River, which gently empties into Double Haven out front. Together, they shape a beautifully layered, harmonious landscape of mountains, forests, streams, the village, and the sea. Inside the village, the buildings are tightly arranged along a grid system of “nine horizontals and three verticals,” featuring a total of 211 houses, three of which are ancestral shrines. All structures face due east to optimize natural lighting and ventilation.
