Not long after we started chatting with the Village Head’s wife, the Village Head himself walked over to join our conversation. He shared that they had settled overseas in their younger years and have now returned for retirement. They are actively supporting the government’s recent drive for “agricultural revitalization” and “countryside conservation,” with the hope of rebuilding their home village.
