The Spiritual Heart of Yung Shue Au: The village office of Yung Shue Au was once the central hub of the community, serving both administrative and clan purposes. In the early days, it was used both as a town hall for village affairs and as an ancestral hall housing the spirit tablet of the founding ancestor, Man-cheong. Around the 1950s, the clan moved the ancestral tablets to the Wan Clan Ancestral Hall in Tam Shui Hang. To this day, descendants of the Wan clan still visit that ancestral hall every year on the second day of the Lunar New Year to pay their respects. Before 《Pui Man School》 was built, the village office also doubled as a study hall, serving as the only educational venue in the village. Villagers recall that primary education was taught there in Hakka by Mr. Lau, which locals referred to as “Hakka schooling.” Though the village office stands abandoned today, it still keeps its original spatial layout.
