Yung Shue Au Village, Massive Chinese Banyan | 02

The aerial roots of the banyan tree grow downwards along the stone walls, slowly making their way into the brick joints and wrapping around the entire structure. While the sheer power of the expanding roots will eventually crack the walls apart, at this stage, the dense network of roots actually acts like a “giant hand,” holding the crumbling stone walls together and stopping them from collapsing.
