Fung Hang Village, Village Architecture and Layout

A row of neatly arranged, two-storey buildings stands here, showcasing a classic New Territories Hakka village layout. Built against the hillside facing south (or facing the water depending on the terrain), this design acts as a natural windbreak while maximizing airflow and daylight. There is also a Feng Shui Wood layout; the dense, dark green forest right behind the buildings is the “Feng Shui Wood”. In traditional village planning, it not only blocks wind and prevents soil erosion, but is also believed to safeguard the village’s wealth and peace—which is also why manages to maintain such a rich biodiversity.
